My
involvment with Massage
Born on 9th April 1971 in Ayr Scotland. Spent most of my adult life
working in catering as a chef, then laterly as a Barman in the village
of St. John's town of Dalry. Felt that I was never at ease with
catering as a career.
At
the age of 17, I managed to be involved in two seperate car crashes,
and although I walked away from them, I did not realize what had
happened to my back. This only really surfaced about 6 years ago,
when I felt amazing pain across my lower back and knees. After a
couple of years of investigation, I found that my pelvis had become
very unstable and that the smallest of movements were putting it
out of position. Unfortunately, I do still suffer, but I am always
into trying out things that may help, and have had regular Osteopathy
and Acupuncture.
I
began to get quite frightened, and found I had to try and get some
quality of life so I read up about my body. What initially started
as general reading, soon got me interested in health in general.
I then had the desire to see if I could train in a therapy, which
would hopefully give me some self-esteem, but more importantly help
people who were in the same position as I have found myself in.
I
asked a few local professional people about training, and the consistant
answer I received was to try the Northern Institute of Massage in
Bury. This proved to be wise, as not only did I feel comfortable
in my training, but the tutors actually helped me with my back problems
and I was more than often the model for back massage.
